MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN
Dear Patrons and Friends of Festival Miami:
That Festival Miami is now celebrating its 22nd
season is a source of great pride to all who have worked hard
over the years to ensure that it has continued to achieve
its goals with regard to both artistic standards and community
outreach. Although the Frost School’s primary
mission is obviously an educational one, another important
part of our mission is also to reach out to and serve the
South Florida community as an important cultural resource.
This dual mission represents a historical commitment dating
back to the School’s founding in 1926.
The Frost School’s outstanding artist faculty and student performing resources each fall engage in a dizzying flurry of concentrated rehearsal activity that commences just one month prior to Festival Miami’s opening. This season is, as always, enhanced by a stellar array of guest artists from the U.S. and abroad. In keeping with the Festival’s international character, the 2005 season includes artists from Germany, Russia, Brazil, Spain, Poland, and the Czech Republic. Many of our guest artists will also be presenting master classes for the enrichment of students in the Frost School. The public is most welcomed to attend these stimulating sessions, for which there is no admission charge.
I believe that one of the many strengths of Festival Miami is its tradition of collaborations with other Miami-Dade County presenting organizations, and so I wish to thank ASCAP, Friends of Chamber Music, Sunday Afternoons of Music for Children, the Chopin Foundation of the United States, American Friends of Flamenco, and the Miami Civic Music Association for their important participation in our 2005 season.
I wish to extend deepest appreciation to the corporations,
agencies, foundations, and individuals that have generously
supported Festival Miami’s 22nd
season. They, and you, our audience, continue to help
in many important ways to make this festival the success that
it continues to be.
Don’t miss a beat!
