Scott Stinson received his B.M. and M.M degrees in music composition at Indiana University, studying with electronic music pioneer and microtonalist John Eaton. While there, he received the first performance of his chamber opera Tutankhamen by the opera theater studio. Completing his doctorate in theory/composition at the Frost School of Music (under the direction of Dennis Kam) he has served as a member of the music theory faculty since 2001. His research interests include the piano etudes of Ligeti, contemporary composers Thomas Ades and Mathias Pintscher, 20th century opera, and historical women composers.
